Patty, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1986)

I think I fell in "love" with John Black from the very beginning, which would be The Pawn storyline in 1986. I was a Roman and Marlena fan and thought at the time nobody could take Wayne's place, but I was mistaken big time. After we found out that John Black was Roman, it was like the other Roman never existed - Drake just made Roman his own. His ability to take this character and completely make it his own was outstanding. His gorgeous looks and his chemistry with all the characters he's come across on DAYS was also fabulous. Although he didn't stay Roman, it just didn't matter because John Black is who we all fell "in love" with in the beginning anyway.

So, as a Drake fan for the past seventeen years, I say "thank you" for taking this character and making him someone I think we all have come to admire...and I hope you continue to play John Black for many, many years to come.

Daisy, Belgium (1999)

I started watching DAYS around 1999 - 2000. My sister was watching it first and I sometimes watched with her. I didn't know anything about it but my eyes immediately fell on Marlena Evans and John Black. Sami was having difficulties with her bulimia and her mom. I wasn't really interested in watching that since I was just a kid and I really didn't watch much television. I still don't watch much television, but Marlena and John and them as a couple or lovers kept me glued to the screen. Anyway, I "Googled" Deidre and then I "Googled" Drake, and I was so in love with the history of John and Marlena that I decided to watch the show again, regularly this time. I think it was the Aremid storyline that got me hooked.

Drake's acting was and still is outstanding and that counts for Deidre too. I think they are two amazing people who aren't afraid of showing their emotions and just do what they think is best. They always give the best of themselves even in storylines they don't like. They are priceless, John and Marlena are priceless, and their friendship is priceless. The show can be really bad sometimes, but Drake's acting and hot appearance makes it all better!

John DiMera, Norway (Scandinavia) (1999)

I am a "new" fan compared to those of you who have been following this man since 1986. I began to watch DAYS in 1999 and have been a big DAYS fan ever since. Drake was my favorite since Day One. It was during the storyline when John was framed for Tony's murder. He was amazing in that storyline!

It is amazing to me to see a man who is so masculine show that much emotion! He does it better than anyone else on the show. John Black is the most human character on DAYS. He isn't perfect, but he has a good heart and tries to do the right thing. It's impossible for me to identify with a character that is all perfect like you see in all these movies these days. That's why John Black is such an original character, and he is a person that I think many men can identify with. Also, I love the fact that he has never given up on the DiMeras, which he knows is the only way to protect his family and friends.

Drake has a lot of charm, which shows onscreen. I've heard a lot of fans saying how he was with them at events, and I felt I became an even bigger fan after hearing that. I am beginning to think that there are actually people who are pure 100% good people, and Drake is definitely one of them! He's definitely an inspiration for us. He reminds us that we must try to be kinder to each other. Drake has a great sense of humor too.

I must say he and Deidre have a magical chemistry, but I like Drake with so many of his coworkers, especially with "Greta," "Carrie," and "Hope." I am looking forward to seeing the storyline with "Father John" and "Gina," since they're two totally different characters. (We're about four years behind the United States in DAYS episodes.)

I will follow Drake's career wherever he goes. Personally, I hope he will do some movies and other television series after DAYS OF OUR LIVES. (Oh, and I agree with what all of the other fans have said previously about him on this page!)

I wish you all the best in life, Drake Hogestyn. The same goes for your family and, of course, all the talented people at DAYS OF OUR LIVES . Enough talk from this Viking in the North!

Florence, London, England (2000)

From the first time I saw the character of John Black on the DAYS episode of Bo and Hope/Gina's New Year's Eve wedding, I was enamored by him. I thought he was interesting (microchip falling from his neck) and heroic (rescuing the kid from the ledge), not to mention very handsome.

Since then, as I live in the United Kingdom, I've bought almost every storyline Drake's been involved in, starting with The Pawn (my absolute favorite) to date. I'm currently still trying to get hold of some of the stories in between, as I can't seem to get enough of John Black!

As for Drake, all I know is major, major kudos to the man for playing his character so wonderfully that we still love him after all these years. It cannot be easy playing a character whose history is rewritten to fit the plot of the week. So way to go, Drake, and all the best in the future for you and your family!

Wolfina, Las Vegas, Nevada (2005)

I think the thing that really makes him sexy is that he is a star who is a human being. He is down-to-earth. I loved reading about how he met his wife and how they are together now. Now that is very rare in Hollywood for a couple to actually stay together! A star that not only puts his family first, but also takes time out for his fans and does not look at them as an annoyance as many stars do. Not that fans can't be annoying, but he handles it with great compassion. I also read about how he has helped children with cancer. It is true: the power of human touch is sometimes more healing than anything that can be put in a pill, liquid or I.V. bag. He keeps it real. He does not take this 'Star' thing seriously or as who he is. He is just basically a country boy at heart, with a loving wife and children. These are where your true riches are. And he is the rare celebrity who knows this. Another thing that makes him so damn hot!

I am trying to back-read what I can to get insight into his character of John Black, as I have obviously missed a lot. From what I have seen, he is an actor of great depth - nothing superficial there - and is willing, even embraces new challenges. It is rare for an actor, especially in the soap opera world, to stay with one show and make it fresh with each performance. I had watched a rival show for over twenty years, but it just got to be boring.

Drake is definitely one of those people I would want to meet. Not only is he Adonis to look at, there is so much more to this man than just his good looks. And the whole package is what makes him so attractive. If he is ever in Las Vegas, I would dearly love to meet this down-to-earth real man!
