♥ Marlena: "My Prayer Has Been Answered... Roman Is Back In My Arms!"
"Roman's Back In My Arms Again!"
Victor Kiriakis asked John Black to help him locate The Pawn. Slyly, John tried to find out The Pawn's identity, but Victor was too clever. John attempted to get the information from Patch, but Steve was equally as shrewd, especially with a $500,000 reward at stake. When Patch lied to John about knowing what The Pawn looked like, John made the mistake of calling his bluff. Suspicious, Steve wondered how John could be so sure he was lying. John dodged Patch's questions. To give himself an advantage and keep John out of his way, Patch told him that The Pawn was programmed to kill, but they didn't know what would set him off. Horrified, John later found out from Marlena that that could be true.
During the next few days, Marlena noticed how troubled John seemed to be, but he assured her that he was fine. When a call came back from the National Data Service complaining that a John Black inserted his own credentials in their files using her computer, Marlena confronted him. "I want to know who you are!" she demanded. Finally, he opened up to her and she realized that even John Black had no idea who he really was!
At Bo's victory celebration, John recalled fond memories of a family with many children. "Perhaps even I had children of my own," he said, straining to remember. Carrie, though, broke the mood. "I don't like him...tell him to go home," she pleaded with Marlena. John sensed that there might be something to Carrie's impressions of him - still more evidence pointing to Stefano as his real identity. Using Marlena's computer, he ran another check on DiMera. Marlena caught him just as he found more traits in himself similar to Stefano.
Meanwhile, Victor found out that John was indeed The Pawn, and he was in hot pursuit. On the run, John and Marlena were forced to spend a night in a hotel, where Marlena finally saw the tattoo on John's back. (OOPS! This is wrong. John and Marlena found a whole file on John while they were searching Victor's house, which said that he had plastic surgery which was performed by Dr. Mark Peterson, a doctor in Miami. John phoned this doctor and asked him if he happened to have pictures of him before and after the plastic surgery. The doctor said he did but the only way that he'd show John the pictures is if he agreed to meet him in West Virginia at a cabin that the doctor used while on vacation. When John and Marlena arrived at the cabin, the doctor was nowhere to be found, so John decided to take a shower. He only got as far as stripping his shirt off when the phone rang, so he ran out of the bathroom to answer the phone with a towel draped over his shoulder. When John moved the towel off his shoulder, that's when Marlena saw his tattoo.) It was The Phoenix! John really was Stefano! Marlena tried to get away, but John held her "captive." As they fled in the woods, dodging Victor, the KGB, and Bo, Marlena felt a strong sense of attachment to John. John tried to convince her that it was possible that he was Stefano, but that was in a past life. Marlena didn't care. Yes she liked him, but she could never be with him. "You took away my husband and left my children without a father!" she pleaded. At the same time, Bo was sneaking in the woods, poised with a shotgun, ready to kill "Stefano" so he could avenge his brother's death.
When Bo finally caught up with "Stefano," they struggled, and Bo knocked him over a cliff. Clinging for his life, "Stefano" pleaded with Bo to help him. Marlena also approached. "Bo, you must save him...it's not Stefano...it's Roman!" Bo pulled up his long-lost brother, and John Black's memory was restored. He was indeed Roman Brady! Marlena had her husband back and Carrie and the twins had their daddy back. "It's great to have you back in my arms again!" Marlena beamed.
